Nose has two nostrils – left and right and we use both to inhale and exhale.
The right side represents the sun – Surya Nadi i.e. Pingala and the left side represents the Moon – Chandra Nadi i.e. Ida
Right Nostril is masculine, strong, active, generating heat; gets heated up easily, whereas left nostril is Feminine, passive, cool. The balance between two is vital for good health and to keep the energy flowing which is done in Yoga Asanas and Pranayamas.
Check when you have a headache, close the right nostril and use your left nostril to breathe and observe how do you feel in few minutes – No medications at all and the headache is gone!
When feeling tired, do the opposite, close the left nostril and breathe through the right nostril and observe how you feel after a while – the feeling is refreshing.
When you wake up in the morning just observe which side breathes faster – the right or left nostril?
If left nostril is faster, you will feel tired and sleepy as left represent moon and in morning sun should be active, that is the right nostril. So close the left nostril and breathe through the right nostril for a while and it will balance you for the entire day.
